The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History will host the 10th annual Boonville Days Heritage Fair, 7th annual Buffalo Stampede Half Marathon and 5K Race, and 4th annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. The race will begin at 7:30am, Saturday, October 10, and the Cook-off will be held Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10.

This year’s Boonville Days will be bigger and better than ever before. Demonstrations, cook-off, and meals for the public will take place Saturday, from 9am to 4pm. Enjoy the best in cowboy cooking at the Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. Wagon judging and crews in period dress will be on display Friday afternoon.

The Buffalo Stampede will kick off before Boonville Days begins. Athletes will have the opportunity to show off their skills by running the Half Marathon or 5K Stampede. The popular racecourse was improved last year, and runners will enjoy the excellent UTAF-certified course. The Buffalo Stampede is an approved qualifying race. Boonville Days activities will take place inside the museum and on park grounds. Learn about Brazos County’s pioneer history: visit with characters in period costume, enjoy cowboys, civil war re-enactors, musicians, dancers, artists, and much more. Visitors to Boonville Days will also have the opportunity to observe first-hand demonstrations of frontier skills and trades including flint-making, spinning, quilting, weaving, print-making, and blacksmithing. Children will be entertained at this family event by learning to make pinch pots and other period crafts.

Visitors will have a chance to see Miko, a live, trained bison, and his handler, Bree Worthington, renowned trick cowgirl and National Cowgirl Hall of Fame nominee. Pat Gavin and the Buckaroo Band, along with other musicians, will be providing music to keep your feet tapping along with the beat. Professor Paisley from Texas Recollections will be parading back into town with Justice and Liberty, a pair of oxen showcasing Texas culture from 1830-1845.
