Cooper Browning is an ex-Navy SEAL and current private investigator who trains military dogs on the side. While Coop is in the middle of a tough-to-break case (his best friend’s daughter is missing) he discovers a mysterious woman at the lake. “Lori” has a head wound and can’t remember anything about herself, including her name, or how she got there. Coop and his buddies work to understand Lori’s past and learn who hurt her. Along the way, Coop and Lori start to develop feelings for one another, but don’t know how to handle the situation. Coop struggles with falling for a woman he knows nothing about, while Lori is afraid neither she nor Coop will like the person she was in her past.
“Wounded at the Lake” is the first book in a trilogy by Mitzi Pool Bridges, available in both eBook and print. The steamy romance is a great summer read, even though the book takes place in the winter. The book will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to unravel the mysteries of Coop’s kidnapping case, but also in solving the mystery surrounding Lori and her past. Mystery and romance go hand-in-hand in the opening book of the trilogy, and the ending leaves you ready to read the next in the series.
The trilogy continues with “Wounded at Home,” which came out in April. This book follows Coop’s brother Dirk. The third and final book of the trilogy, “Wounded at Work” is set to release on August 12.
