February 17, 2023 – Bryan, TX The American Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter will host a welcome reception for the new chapter executive director, Jennifer Young. She is based in Bryan/College Station, TX, where she will engage community stakeholders and work along side volunteers in Bell, Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Grimes, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Madison, Robertson, Washington counties.
“Jennifer’s years of service to communities across Brazos Valley make her a natural fit with the Red Cross,” said Marty McKellips, Regional CEO, Red Cross Central and South Texas Region. “We are excited to welcome her to the region’s leadership team and are eager to see how her community relationships will further grow the scope and reach of the Red Cross mission.”
Young joins the Red Cross after serving as the Executive Director for Aggieland Humane Society where she was responsible for the overall management and operation of the organization. Prior to that, she worked for Twin City Mission in Bryan, TX. During her time at Twin City Mission, she ultimately became the Director of Operations for Homeless and Housing Services while writing and managing multiple federal and state grants.
Young is a Texas native who received her B.S. and Masters from Texas A&M University. She has spent most of her career working in different capacities at area organizations where her leadership led to organizational growth and development. “I’m thrilled to step into this new opportunity and join such a vibrant and engaged team here in Central and South Texas Region,” Young said. “As the new executive director of the Heart of Texas Chapter, I look forward to working alongside my peers in the community to ensure we are providing robust Red Cross services throughout the chapter.”
Along with remarks from Young and Mayor John Nichols of College Station during the reception, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce.
