The Bryan/College Station Convention & Visitors Bureau expanded its visitor outreach efforts with the recent rollout of their Mobile Visitor Center.
The CVB spent months selecting a van, collecting photographs to adorn the outside, and designing the inside of the van to make the Mobile Visitor Center a great resource for those seeking information about B/CS. Partners in this effort included representatives from both cities and the county, local attractions, and organizations serving the area.
The CVB staff and interns have been hard at work breaking in the van at sports tournaments and community events such as First Friday, the Starlight Music Series at Wolf Pen Creek Park, and the Summer Concert Series in Downtown Bryan.
The van is outfitted with satellite TV and radio, making it a great spot for visitors to come spend a few minutes and get information on restaurants and fun places to check out while they’re in town. The van staff has also been helping everyone at the outdoor tournaments stay cool by giving out popsicles and lemonade.
The biggest test for the van will be this fall when the CVB will have a spot at every Texas A&M home football game in the Fan Zone at Kyle Field. The CVB is planning to have giveaways and games, and will team up with community partners to make sure everyone has a chance to connect with fans at B/CS’s biggest gatherings of out-of-town visitors.
“One of our main goals at the CVB is to let visitors know about all of the fun things there are to do in Bryan/College Station. So we of course want to give our partners in the community the chance to promote what they have to offer,” says Shannon Overby, president and CEO of the CVB. “We’ve just started this and have already seen a positive reception, and we’re excited to watch the Mobile Visitor Center keep growing and become something visitors and residents actively seek out at events.”
If any partners in the community want the van to make an appearance at their events, they can email communications@bcscvb.org with a description of the event and the dates and times they want the van on site, as well as any giveaways or handouts they want to provide. Also, keep an eye on the CVB’s social media accounts (username @VisitAggieland) for special giveaways.
