Love In Bloom: John & Paige

John Kennedy boarded a plane for the 30th consecutive weekend on July 26, 2013, knowing the flight would be a little different from the rest. Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” played overhead, and it perfectly foreshadowed what would happen when he landed. John proposed to his girlfriend, Paige Adams, as he met her at the gate, a place where they had said “hello” and “goodbye” so many times before.

John and Paige met online Christmas Eve 2012. They chatted for hours until the early morning of Christmas Day, and both felt a strong connection. John was living in Kansas, and Paige in Galveston. John decided to visit Paige shortly after the New Year. The pair finally met in person, and both agree, “It was love at first sight – a match made in heaven.” John continued to visit every weekend until his proposal.

Paige eventually moved to Kansas City to be near John, and the wedding planning ensued. “John and I worked together, primarily on the weekends, concentrating on different tasks,” Paige explains. “John designed the programs and organized the music for the ceremony and reception…I worked on other details, like ordering the invitations, corresponding with our vendors, and making party favors for the rehearsal dinner [and] wedding reception.”

The wedding festivities began with a rehearsal dinner at Christopher’s World Grille. The venue was the perfect setting for the “world traveler” theme, while entertaining family and friends from around the globe. Spending time with family and friends from many different states and England was important to John and Paige.

The wedding was held at the A&M Church of Christ in College Station, March 28, 2015. Paige, a College Station native, graduated from Texas A&M University. The couple chose College Station for the wedding to coincide around the bluebonnets in season. Postoak Florist did the flower arrangements, and the couple agrees the day could not have been more beautiful.

The groom, best man, father of the bride, and ring bearer wore black tuxedo suits with grey vests and ties to accentuate the color scheme. The matron of honor and flower girls wore royal blue dresses with pearl jewelry. Paige’s dress was designed by Oleg Cassini. “I was so excited about this designer,” she says. “He was the designer for many elegant women, including Grace Kelly and Jacqueline Kennedy.”

The reception was held at The Greenbranch in Bryan. Catering was provided by D’Vine Cuisine. The wedding cakes were both made by a family friend, Paula Watson. The groom’s cake looked like stacked suitcases to fit with the theme, and even had hints about the honeymoon.

Where do world travelers decide to go for their honeymoon? Why, Italy of course! “We had never been there before,” John notes. “It was so romantic. The sunsets off the Amalfi Coast are indescribable…Plus, we love pizza!”

While John and Paige felt their wedding day was absolutely perfect, they believe their friends and family were what made the day so memorable. One of their favorite notes received after the wedding reads, “For the most part, weddings are always filled with love. However, there are a few that stand out in particular. They stand out because the love shown between the bride and groom and their families fills the room. Your wedding was one of those weddings...the love in the room was contagious!”

This was exactly what the couple had hoped for on their special day. Neither could express it enough: “It was absolutely perfect.”
