On October 19, Downtown Bryan Art Step will be throwing their biggest celebration yet. Every third Thursday, venues across Downtown Bryan stay open later to host artist receptions, author talks, and open art studios that showcase Downtown Bryan’s art and culture. This month, Art Step is excited to announce that 15 different venues across town will be participating.
The general time of Artoberfest is from 6pm to 9pm, with each venue tailoring the time specific to their event. You won’t want to miss these incredible events full of art, theater, literary pursuits, and music. SEAD Gallery and Bookshop will be hosting an Author Talk with Rhonda Brinkman from 6:30pm to 8 pm. The Village Cafe and Art979 Gallery will be opening a show entitled “Architecturally Speaking” by An Artist Named Ben, as well as hosting a singer/songwriter night. At Downtown Uncorked, Brazos Valley Art League member, Duane Alcorn, will be displaying art. A glassworks class will be in session at Brazos Glassworks; with hand crafted jewelry and stained glass will be on display as well. The Parker Astin Arts Center will be featuring new art inside, plus a flashlight art walk in the alley. They will also have two studios open for a hands-on printmaking experience. Square One Event Center & Loft will be showcasing art from Brazos Valley Art League members, Wendy Kenney-Kennicutt and Dena Gaskin. ArtFill will exhibit sculptures by John McGee and Allan Lee. Blackwater Draw Brewing Co.’s downtown Bryan location will have work by not only artist Nancy Elliott, but also by both Navasota Artists in Residence, Charles North and Jayde Archbold. An Anne Lynch Inktober show will be on display at Viz North Gallery + Studio. Caffe Capri is highlighting their outside mural by Sarah Blackmon. Voices for Children will be showing work from artist Hailey Herrera and The Palace Theater will be hosting a behind-the-scenes tour of their haunted house. The current play at StageCenter Community Theater is “Desk Set.” The Arsenal Tattoo & Design will feature art by Cliff Collard. Lastly, 31st Murals will be highlighting local artists Sarah Blackmon and Cliff Collard. Each venue will have a drawing for a door prize at the end of the evening. Keep an eye out for the tickets at each venue so you can enter for the chance to win a free gift.
When Art Step first began in Downtown Bryan it hosted two venues, thus making this art walk an “art step.” Downtown Bryan Art Step is thrilled to see its growth in being able to provide 15 venues this October, all dedicated to art and interaction with the Bryan community.
