Bellville brings visitors a day of shopping opportunities this Saturday, June 5, with a Bellville Market Day and the Bellville Farmers’ Market. Due to May’s rainout show, a shorter summer makeup Market Day will be held from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on the Bellville Square. The Fresh Farmers’ and Artisan Market will be located within walking distance under the covered Jim Bishop Pavilion, adjacent to Chesley Park, from 9 a.m. to noon. This will be the last Market Day of the season until the fall, although the Bellville Farmers’ Market will continue on the first Saturdays of each month throughout the summer.
The Market Day will feature food trucks and booths offering pit barbecue meals, tamales, fresh roasted corn, kettle corn, and a variety of bakers selling fresh breads and numerous sweet treats. KTEX Radio’s morning radio personality, Trail Boss Troy, will provide all-day music. Tented vendors include women’s and children’s clothing boutiques, furniture, crafts, yard art, colorful plants and flowers, woodworking, artisans, wine tastings, Italian macarons, and retail favorites. Visitors can also explore the shops and boutiques on the Historic Downtown Bellville Square, including a restaurant, flower shop, home décor, and more.
The farmers’ market has more than 30 vendors scheduled. Area growers and ranchers will sell produce, herbs, plants, micro-greens, beef, pork, chicken, jellies, a variety of baked goods, and farm eggs. There will also be organic local honey, olive oils, flavored vinegars, Indian cuisine, artisan jewelry, a bake sale fundraiser, a thankful friends prayer booth, and wine samplings from two wineries.
Parking and admission are free for both events. Families can also explore other Bellville activities such as touring the Jail Museum from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., making a souvenir knife for Father’s Day or throwing Tomahawks at the Phenix Knives Historic Blacksmith Shop, touring Newman’s Castle, ordering a smoothie at Alternatives, or trying homemade fudge inside Coco and Duckie’s.
