Books and a Blanket, a local non-profit that gives books and blankets to children in need, is hosting the inaugural Books, Blankets, and Pasta event on Saturday, October 10, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Promising to be a delightful evening, local school children will be the hosts, waiters, and clean-up crew of a pasta dinner provided by Admiral Catering. This fundraising event will also feature a silent auction and presentation by Books and a Blanket. Tickets are $25 and are on sale now through booksandablanket.com.
Books and a Blanket was founded four years ago by sisters Harper (age 11) and Maggie (age 10), with the aim of promoting literacy and well-being among young students who are in need. Both are avid readers and spirited philanthropists.
Books and a Blanket has already been able to positively impact multiple schools in three different school districts and has placed nearly 20,000 books into the hands of area children. Books and a Blanket accepts donations of gently used to new books and new blankets in order to help those students who are in need. It is through these donations that Books and a Blanket has the opportunity to make a positive impact on young students.
