1541 Pastries and Coffee 1808 Brothers Blvd, Suite H, College Station Opened in 2011, this shop is owned by a local couple and is named after the year Morelia, Mexico, was founded — the city where they got married. One of the owners started out as a pastry chef before expanding her skills to master coffee as well. Their signature drink is the 1541 Special, a mocha with espresso and chocolate.
Babe’s Donuts & Coffee Shop 3409 Texas Ave, Bryan Known for their specialty, scratch-made donuts, Babe’s also serves hand-crafted coffee drinks to enjoy with their pastries and other breakfast offerings. Their beans are from local roasting company Polite Coffee. The popular Iced Gallagher — named after one of their most frequent regulars — is made with their 18-hour cold brew, sweetened condensed cream, and topped with house-made mocha sauce.
Carport Coffee 701 University Dr, College Station College Station’s newest coffee stop opened at the end of 2019, right across the street from Texas A&M University’s campus. As the name suggests, the building used to be a Sinclair service station, and they carry out that inspiration of being “in transit” to their menu, engineering it to be on the go. Most popular among their specialty drinks in cool weather is the Milk & Honey, a cinnamon and honey latte. In the summer the Brown Dog, a chocolate milk and iced coffee combination, takes the lead.
Gogh Gogh Coffee Company 4121 Hwy 6, College Station Gogh Gogh is named after artist Vincent van Gogh, and the inside of the store reflects that inspiration by featuring murals and other local artists’ work. The theme continues in the menu; their most popular drink is the Vin-Cinnamon Latte, a white chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon combination. They also have a drive-thru for customers literally on the “gogh.”
Harvest Coffee Bar Downtown Bryan: 101 N Main St, Bryan Century Square: 1037 University Dr, Suite 109, College Station Harvest’s original location in downtown Bryan opened in 2014, and they expanded with a second location in Century Square at the beginning of 2019. As their name suggests, agriculture plays a big part in how they source their products and is the driving motivation behind their coffee menu. Their signature drink is the Harvest Latte, a gourmet vanilla latte made with hand-dressed vanilla beans and raw sugar, available hot or iced. In addition to their drinks, they have light fare and pastries.
Horizon Coffee 4282 Boonville Rd, Suite 100, Bryan This coffee shop is hidden away inside a Daylight Donuts. They used to be in Post Oak Mall but moved locations last year. They can make any of your favorite specialty drinks to enjoy with a donut, kolache, or other pastry. Their House Latte is a white chocolate latte with caramel.
La Gabriella Coffeeshop & Pastries 109 Walton Dr, College Station Local couple Fernando and Gabriella, the store’s namesake, started the store as a bakery and added coffee later. They got their start when Fernando, who is originally from Guatemala, missed home and asked his wife to make some traditional breads. The bread became so popular among friends and family that they decided to sell it, and the shop was born. Their most popular drinks are the Cinnamon Delight and Fernando’s Favorite.
Lupa’s Coffee 2501 Texas Ave S, Suite C-100, College Station Named after the owner’s dog, who has visited the store before, this shop has been around since 2014. It is a hub for students because of their multitude of study seating and unique events. The top choice for an iced drink is the vanilla lavender latte while for a hot drink it is the oatmeal latte.
POV 4114 Lake Atlas Dr #250, Bryan POV gets its name from the “point of view” you’ll have hanging out in their store, which is part of the Stella Hotel. Whether you’re on the porch or looking out their walls of windows, you’ll have a view of Lake Atlas at Lake Walk Town Center. Their most popular drink started out as a seasonal drink that now stays year-round: the Snowfall is a white mocha with vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Sweet Eugene’s House of Java 1702 George Bush Dr E, College Station This funky coffeehouse and bakery combination has been Aggie owned and operated since it opened in 1993. Its eclectic interior matches the fun story behind its unique name: the owner’s childhood friend Paul was misnamed Eugene by the local newspaper, and it stuck as a nickname, morphing into Sweet Eugene in college. Their signature drink is the Eugene’s Latte, a vanilla and brown sugar drink that’s especially popular iced.
The Brew Coffeehouse 410 Harvey Rd, Suite B, College Station The Brew started out as a little church café, only open on Sundays for Connecting Point Church’s services. The church wanted to open it to the public to welcome in people who otherwise wouldn’t be comfortable stepping inside a church building. It’s now a community hub, with people from all walks of life hanging out in its space adjacent to the church. Originally, if you wanted to order their most popular drink — a white mocha with caramel and vanilla — you had to know the code: say nothing and knock on the bar. Now the secret is out, and you can just ask for the Secret Handshake.
The Junction Market & Cafe 177 Joe Routt Boulevard, College Station As an on-campus coffee shop in the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, it is only fitting that its name is a Texas A&M football reference. The Junction Boys was the name for the players who stuck it out at Aggie football coach Bear Bryant’s 10-day summer camp in Junction in 1954. Stop by throughout the year to try their signature drinks as they rotate with the seasons.
The Kyle House 800 S Bryan Ave, Bryan This historic venue is a now a coffee bar and café. It is housed in a Victorian home that was previously a wedding venue as well as home to Edwin Kyle, the namesake of Kyle Field. Their coffee is sourced from local roaster Polite Coffee Roasters, and they have snacks and other light fare to go along with their drinks.
The Village Café and Art979 Gallery 210 W 26th St, Bryan The Village is a full-blown coffee shop — and restaurant, art gallery, concert venue, and dance hall. Known as “the living room of downtown Bryan,” the café is ever-evolving since opening in 2008. Their most popular drink is the honey lavender latte made with local honey and espresso from local roaster What’s the Buzz Coffee. In fact, The Village emphasizes sourcing local for all their menu items.
