Capturing Art: Fidelis Studios and Tim Douglass
by Sarah Kinzbach
The photographs for the Art979 feature stories in this month’s magazine owe their creativity to Tim Douglass of Fidelis Studios. Often dressed in plaid and most frequently seen behind a camera lens, Tim approached this month’s shoot as a form of introduction. “I wanted to keep everything relatively clean and professional, while showing off who these people are beneath the titles,” comments Tim.
The shoot was very open-ended, says Tim. “For this particular shoot, I didn’t really have any single source I went to look at to figure out what I wanted to do. I was really excited about the subjects because they were all people I highly respect.”
Tim, who has been clicking shutters professionally for six years, enjoys building his own photography collections with his wife, Kristen. With two children as muses, family pictures are a current trend for the couple.
Most recently, Tim has been experimenting with 4x5 cameras, a high-resolution, large-format camera. “I like old cameras,” remarks Tim, who started playing with digital photography while living in Spain for a year. He advises: “Always have a camera in your hand...take life like that.”
Fidelis Studios, owned and operated by Tim and Kristen, specializes in wedding, engagement and portrait photography, and is located in Downtown Bryan in the Charles Hotel building. Learn more about Tim and Fidelis Studios at www.fidelisstudio.com or www.fidelisblog.com.
