The acclaimed Euclid Quartet is scheduled to perform a free concert at Bryan’s First Presbyterian Church Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30pm .
The Euclid Quartet is a stunning American quartet comprised of a multinational mix of members: violinist Jameson Cooper (UK), violinist Jacob Murphy (US), violist Luis Enrique Vargas (Venezuela), and cellist Si-Yan Darren Li (China). Celebrating its 15thanniversary this year, Euclid has become one of the most well-regarded chamber ensembles of its generation whose performances are filled with passion, virtuosity, and sensitivity. Taking its name from Cleveland’s Euclid Avenue, this award-winning group holds the prestigious residency at the South Bend campus of Indiana University. Among the group’s stops on tour have been Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, the Aspen Music Festival, and Osaka, Japan. Euclid was awarded an American Masterpieces grant from the NEA for its innovative educational programming.
Continuing its passion for Béla Bartók’s iconic string quartets, the Euclid Quartet completes the cycle of six masterpieces on its latest album Bartók String Quartets Nos. 1, 3 & 5. As the follow-up recoding to the group’s acclaimed predecessor Bartók String Quartets Nos. 2, 4 & 6 (released in 2010 by Artek Recordings), it confirms Euclid’s reputation as one of America’s most virtuosic quartets.
