Juneteenth Community Celebration at Clara B. Mounce Library

Tuesday, June 18

Register now to celebrate Juneteenth at the Clara B. Mounce Library in Bryan! Influential speakers Ms. Betty J. Robinson, Ms. Desiree Lewis and Reverend Craig Anderson will be featured to commemorate the month's history and tell their personal experiences being part of the Bryan/College Station area. The Remnant of Nawlins will serve treats in addition to the crafts for kids at 5:30 p.m. on June 18. 

Juneteenth Celebration with Elizabeth Kahura

Wednesday, June 19

Tune into Elizabeth Kahura’s performance of her engaging African Folktales. Originally from Kenya, the Texas Commission Arts performer will celebrate Juneteenth through impactful storytelling and more at the Clara B. Mounce Library in Bryan on June 18 at 10 a.m. and the Larry J. Ringer Library on June 19 at 10 a.m. The free tickets will be handed out 30 minutes before the performance begins. 

Juneteenth Gospel Festival 

Thursday, June 20

The Juneteenth Committee of the Brazos Valley African American Heritage & Cultural Society is organizing the Juneteenth Gospel Festival on June 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held by the Neal Recreation Center located in Bryan with the promise of spirited singing and dancing with the community. Celebrate the month with worship by singing along to soulful music with other locals.

Juneteenth Parade

Saturday, June 22

Join in and watch the parade booked with visionary floats, local organizations and businesses. The Juneteenth Committee of the Brazos Valley African American Heritage & Cultural Society is orchestrating the celebration on June 22 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in dedication to the community’s recognition of Juneteenth. 

Celebration in the Park

Saturday, June 22

Sadie Thomas Memorial Park isn’t just for kids. Celebrate Juneteenth at the park, where family and fun are joined to commemorate the month on June 22 from 12 to 3 p.m. The event promises entertainment for the whole family with the Brazos Valley African American Heritage & Cultural Society at Kemp-Carver Elementary School.

Juneteenth Blues Fest

Saturday, June 22

The Juneteenth celebrations continue with live music at the Blues Fest in Downtown Bryan. Join the fun and immerse in the lively sounds of soulful blues on June 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. Don’t miss the sound of beloved blues this Juneteenth weekend. 

Juneteenth at the Brazos Valley African American Museum 

Every day in June

The Brazos Valley African American Museum holds history with its abundance of artifacts, information about the African Americans who settled in the area and sights waiting to be seen. In honor of Juneteenth admission to the museum is free every day in June. Check the website for hours and entry details.
