Feeling Groovy? On Saturday, Feb. 10, Festival Hill will be the place to experience the “Sounds of the Sixties.” There's no better time than Valentine’s Day to enjoy the music of your life, from Sinatra to the Beatles and everything in between. Featuring songs from the sixties, the program includes the best of music many grew up with.
The afternoon concert starts at 2pm and will feature pianist and singer Dick Smith. Joining Smith on stage will be a star-studded cast of guest artists including Charles Whitaker, Kate Holman, and Will Lynde. Lynde will be returning from Nashville with Arden McKenna to perform duets. Keeping it in the family, special guest J. Gary Smith will join his brother Dick Smith on stage.
Dick Smith's concert benefits the Festival Institute's Fine Arts and Humanities Library, The Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Library and Study Center. Smith promises several songs for all generations of the sixties including "That's Life," "The Look of Love," "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," "Bridge over Troubled Water," "Feeling Groovy," and "Yesterday."
After the performance, join Festival Hill staff and friends on the concert hall stage for a reception with refreshing drinks and delectable valentine treats from the Festival Hill kitchen. You will have an opportunity to sponsor a book of your choice for the Adopt-a-Book Program and bid on special silent auction items. Your ticket enters you in a drawing for a chance to win fantastic door prizes. The library benefit and fundraiser is always a fun event.
