The School of Public Health invites the Bryan/College Station community to learn more about the walking trails in Downtown Bryan during April First Friday. Students will guide individuals or families on one of three different trails in downtown during this event sponsored by the NPHW Planning Committee and the SPH Student Body.
The trails allow you to enjoy the historic buildings, restaurants and arts Bryan has to offer, all while incorporating the recommended physical activity guidelines of an easy 10 minute walk. Walking trail participants will receive NPHW materials and door prizes so stop by their booth at the Carnegie Library for more information.
Get into the spring spirit by visiting the Lemonade Day BCS table at the former Heritage Menswear building for a sample of free lemonade and to learn about Lemonade Day or sign up to participate in the free event. Lemonade Day helps to teach youth from pre-k all the way though 12th grade how to start, own and operate their own lemonade stand business.
If you're in the artistic mood, stop in at the Parker Astin Art Center for activities for all ages. Get crafty by making paper flowers for the art fair or get a drawing by William. They will also have Living Water Pottery demonstrations, a henna artist, and live music.
Parking is available in the Roy Kelly Garage for $1/ hour, located at 27th and Texas Avenue. If you're looking for a greener way to arrive at First Friday, consider joining TAMU Tactical Urbanism and Bike979 for their First Friday Funky Town Ride. For the Funky Town Ride, riders are encouraged to wear bright clothes complimented with balloons, noisemakers, music, and whatever else might be needed to make a rolling party. The ride will leave The Hub at the Texas A&M campus at 5:30 pm and will roll out at 6:30 pm to head to Downtown Bryan as a mass bike group.
