Friends of Chamber Music launched a film series in conjunction with four of their five concerts for the 2019-2020 music season. The passionate, romantic film The Piano, screened on Nov. 12 at the Queen Theatre in downtown Bryan, prepared audiences for the passionate and romantic music performed by Daniel Hsu, the 2017 Cliburn bronze medalist. Hsu, only 22 years old, played for more than 400 people at the Friends of Chamber Music concert on Nov. 19.
One concert goer said, “An amazing pianist – hard to believe that he’s so young.” Another added, "I loved the performance! Stunning finger patterns and eloquent choice of pieces of music!”
Jane Stowell, president of Friends of Chamber Music explains, “The sights, sounds, and plots of movies can create an audio-visual vehicle to help you see the connection to the music you will hear at the concerts. Each film has a relationship with the accompanying concert that can enhance your concert enjoyment. Check out the film and concert schedule for 2020, then plan to be entertained and enlightened by attending the concerts and films listed below.”
All movies start at 7pm and are shown at the Queen Theatre in downtown Bryan.
