Garrison Keillor's September 8 performance is a recent addition to the OPAS Season. After 39 years of bringing world-class entertainment home to the Brazos Valley, MSC OPAS is dressed to impress with its 2011-2012 “For the Fun of It” season. The article of clothing in the spotlight? Red shoes.
Garrison Keillor – author, storyteller, radio personality and host of the Minnesota Public Radio Show A Prairie Home Companion – is returning to Rudder Auditorium during his Summer Love Tour, and he’s bringing his signature red sneakers. Tickets sold out early when Keillor last came to Aggieland.
“We are obviously very excited to have Mr. Keillor back again,” says Anne Black, MSC OPAS’s executive director. “He came a couple of years ago for an evening of storytelling, and tickets sold out. We have been trying to get the whole show to come to Rudder for about five years now. People who are public radio listeners who are also A Prairie Home Companion listeners should be excited to know that Fred Newman will also be here.”
A Prairie Home Companion, which has been a mainstay in public radio since its inception in 1974, will consist of crisp jazz, passionate duets, English Majors and Poesy, and will feature the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band and sound effects genius, Fred Newman. Also included in the lineup are favorite segments Guy Noir Private Eye and The Cowboys Dusty and Lefty. Of course, no Prairie Home Companion performance would be complete without the latest News from Lake Wobegon.
Garrison Keillor’s September 8 performance is a recent addition to the 2011-2012 OPAS season and tickets for this special event are not included in season ticket packages. For more information, visit http://opas.tamu.edu/, or to purchase tickets by phone, call the MSC Box Office at (979) 845-1234.
