Navasota will be celebrating 150 years of incorporation on Oct. 22. There will be festivities throughout the day for people of all ages. The event held in downtown Navasota begins at 9am with the following schedule:
9am – Event begins, vendors open 9am – Union Pacific Mini Train begins rides 10am to 5pm – Art Sale, where more than 80 artists will display and sell art on the second floor of 102 E. Washington Ave (Above Circle P Antiques & Collectibles) 10am to 12pm – Games on the Lawn at city hall (sack races, three-legged races and more) 10am to 12pm – Church Tours 12 to 1:15pm – Music performance by The Navasota Music Study Club and The Star of Texas Dulcimers in the Municipal Building Lobby 1:15pm – Musical Entertainment by Lil Rob and the Johnny Sacks 1 to 3pm – Games on the Lawn 3pm– The Virgil Garvin Vintage Baseball Game (anyone may participate) 4pm – Community Picnic on the lawn of the Municipal Building (bring your blanket, food and drinks; food trucks will be on site as well) 5pm – Free Nostalgic Movie, The Maltese Falcon, at Miller’s Theatre
Additionally, The Navasota Theater Alliance will have showings of The Count Will Rise Again at 2 and 7pm.
The Horlock House Art Gallery & History Museum will be open to visit with the artists in residency (www.navasotaair.wordpress.com) and the Best Museum featuring artifacts from the area--1215 E Washington Ave. In addition, there will be videos shown at city hall featuring the eras of Navasota put together by Navasota High School students. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a full day of festivities celebrating Navasota’s 150th Anniversary.
