Pride Community Center is hosting the 3rd Annual Film Festival Saturday, April 4, with an array of films that explore what Festival Chairman Kay Dennis calls “human conditions.”
Beginning at 10am at Stage Center in Bryan, Pride will be serving 15 cinematic pieces that Dennis says will strike accord in both gay and straight viewers.
“Films are about emotions, and that’s something we can all relate to,” Dennis says. From the romantic fumbling of “The Ten Year Plan” to the unexpected joys and trials of aging in “Before You Know It,” this year’s festival has a wide of variety of both short and feature films.
“We are thrilled to be showing ‘Matt Shepard Is A Friend of Mine’ which is a new release chronicling Matt’s life with never before seen photos and interviews with his friends,“ Dennis says. Bryan/College Station theatregoers will remember Shepard as the subject of the recent Stage Center production, “The Laramie Project,” which recalled Shepard’s short life and brutal death in Wyoming.
Other films at the Festival include “The Rugby Player,” an award-winning documentary about rugby player/9-11 hero Mark Bingham; “Before You Know It;” “Be Your Wo/Man;” “The Ten Year Plan;” “Matt Shepard Is A Friend of Mine;” “A Last Farewell;” “Alone With People;” “Pepper;” “Click;” “Grind;” “Barrio Boy;” “If We Took A Holiday;” “Out Smart;” “The Narcissist,” and “the Phallometer.”
