The Brazos County Cattle Baron’s Ball is an evening filled with food, games, and dancing to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The 23rd Annual Cattle Baron’s Ball is on Oct. 20.
This year the Cattle Baron’s Ball is hosted at the Hilton and the theme is Roaring 20s, #CocktailsForACure, says Kimberly Varner, the event chair. Guests can participate in a Kendra Scott jewelry pull, live and silent auction, casino games, wine pull, photobooth, and more. There will be a speakeasy, and food will be served all night. Bring your dancing shoes; the ball features the Southern County Line band and a tribute to George Strait.
This will be Varner’s second year to work at the Cattle Baron’s Ball and she says that she came back due to the worthy cause it benefits.
“I really feel strongly in the purpose of ACS ... most everybody that we know has been touched by cancer somehow, just somehow either in our families or our friends,” Varner says. “I think that raising money for something that everyone benefits from is a good thing. It makes me feel fulfilled and purposeful doing that.”
Aside from raising money, every year the Cattle Baron’s Ball nominates an Honorary Chair to speak at the ball. The Honorary Chair has battled or is currently battling cancer and shares about their journey and how ACS helped them, says Varner. Be on the lookout for Cattle Baron’s Ball to announce this year’s honorary chair soon.
