The SEAD Gallery and Bookshop is excited to welcome Impressions by Austin-based artist, Anna Ganina. The Opening Reception is on May 17 from 6:30 to 8pm. During this time, the SEAD Gallery will welcome Anna’s expressive and dream-like art to Downtown Bryan. Anna draws inspiration for her works from broad travels and her abundant life experiences as both a visitor and resident of many countries around the world.
Born in Ukraine in 1981, Anna developed her unique brand of art through her schooling at the Academy of Arts in Odessa, Ukraine, and the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, Canada. Passing through San Diego, Florence, and Vancouver, Anna eventually made her way to Austin where she now lives and paints.
Through her paintings, Anna goes beyond the obvious to uncover the symbolism within the human aspect of daily life. Her creativity and style come alive through her choices of imagery and materials. Anna often experiments with textures and in many paintings she blends marble powder with her paints as a way to further explore her subject matter.
As a viewer of Anna’s work, one is transported to a world of fictional reality that exists in the recesses of the artist’s mind. Impressions challenges the observer to not only understand the scope of the actual painting, but also submit to the feelings that the image provokes.
At the reception, Anna will raffle a piece with all proceeds going towards Still Creek Ranch. Since 1988, Still Creek has rescued boys and girls from crisis environments including abuse, neglect, abandonment, and sexual exploitation, placing them in safe, loving, Christ-centered homes. Raffle tickets will be $10 and the winner will receive an Anna Ganina original painting.
