On Saturday, May 4, Lake Walk Town Center will be filled with glowing excitement. This evening of fun will include a Ducky Derby, followed by the Atlas Glow Run, and concluding with a free outdoor concert.
The Ducky Derby is a fundraiser benefitting the exhibits and programs at the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. At 7pm, rubber ducks will be launched from the Lake Walk observation tower into Lake Atlas, and then paddle to the finish line. Prizes include Chick-fil-A for a year, a custom golf cart, or a stay at The Stella Hotel. Ducks will be available for purchase at the event.
Organized by Atlas Race Series, the Atlas Glow Run will kick off around 8pm with 5K, 10K, and 10K team relay options. Registration is $35 for adults, $28 for kids, and includes a glow in the dark t-shirt, custom race bid, glow in the dark finishers medal, timing results post-race, race day photos, and glow paraphernalia (bracelets, necklaces, glasses, etc.). The race will kick-off with a shot-gun start at 8pm.
“Glow Night is a unique event we enjoy bringing to Lake Walk," says Kate Chapman, Lake Walk’s special events coordinator. “It’s an outlet for the whole family to be with one another and have fun, while also ensuring a focus on health and wellness."
The evening will wrap up with an outdoor concert at the Lake Walk Pavilion with music by Flashback. Playing songs from a multitude of eras, Flashback is a cover band that all are bound to enjoy. This concert is free and open to the public to attend and music will begin at 8pm. Food trucks and a kid’s zone will also be available throughout the evening.
