The Navasota Theatre Alliance opens live on stage the musical Smoke on the Mountain Sept. 27 through Oct. 13, at the theatre located in Navasota. Kevin Parker is the guest director for this musical production.
Smoke on the Mountain is a musical that tells the story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show features two dozen rousing bluegrass songs sung by a traveling group, the Sanders Family. Pastor Oglethorpe, the young and enthusiastic minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into “the modern world.”
NTA’s 2019 season is sponsored by a leadership gift from Gary and Mavis Anderson and presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
There will be 11 performances opening Friday, Sept. 27 (opening reception begins at 6:20pm) to Sunday, Oct. 13: Fridays through Saturdays and the final Thursday at 7pm, with matinees on every Sunday and the final Saturday at 2pm.
