Blinn College’s Star of the Republic Museum will bring Texas history to life once more when it hosts its annual Night at the Star of the Republic Museum.
Located at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site, the museum invites families to arrive any time between 7pm and 9pm on Saturday, November 7. The museum lights will be turned down and the exhibits will come to life with live characters that step forward to tell the story of the Texas Republic. Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights for use while they explore the museum. This family-friendly event is designed for museum visitors of all ages.
“This event will allow visitors to discover the history of Texas in a different light,” says Anne McGaugh, Curator of Education. “Visitors never know who they might encounter as they explore the museum! Early Texas settlers, a riverboat captain, a Mexican soldier, a Texas Ranger and many more will bring the exhibits to life.”
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children ages 6 and under. Anyone with a current Blinn College ID receives free admission.
Star of the Republic Museum was created by the Texas Legislature and is administered by Blinn College as a cultural and educational institution. Its purpose is to collect and preserve the material culture of the Texas Republic from 1836-1846 and to interpret the history, cultures, diversity, and values of early Texans. The museum is located off Highway 105 between Brenham and Navasota on FM 1155 at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. Daily museum hours are 10 am to 5 pm.
