The Downtown Bryan association and title sponsor, KBTX are excited to announce the Summer Sunset Series Showcase winners. These four bands bested the competition of local Brazos Valley talent and were chosen by a panel of judges to perform at the Palace Theater in June and July. The winners each received $500 in prize money, will play at the Palace Theater, and will also be feature on KBTX's Free Music Friday segment on the 4pm news.
“We are excited to partner with KBTX for this new design of the Summer Sunset Series to showcase music talent from across the Brazos Valley,” said Katelyn Brown, senior events coordinator of the Downtown Bryan Association. “We are thrilled to promote the arts, music, and culture of our community, and this is a great opportunity for local musicians to be featured in our annual Summer Sunset Series concerts.”
"For eight years, Free Music Friday on First News at Four has given local talent a way to showcase their music to thousands of Brazos Valley viewers. Now, we're proud to partner with Downtown Bryan's Summer Sunset Series to expand the definition of 'Free Music Friday' by giving residents the opportunity to see these performances live and in person," said Kathleen Witte, KBTX anchor/reporter.
Summer Sunset Series Schedule
- June 14 - Texas 105 Band
- June 28 - Great American Boxcar Chorus
- July 12 - Pardon Our Mess
- July 26 - The Docs
All concerts are from 8 to 10pm, and gates open at 7:30pm. Drink concessions will be sold during each concert.
