The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra is pulling out the big guns for the season finale. The former “America’s Got Talent” contestants The Texas Tenors perform at Rudder Auditorium at Texas A&M University on Sunday, April 29, at 5pm.
Marcelo Bussiki, music director and conductor of the BVSO, says he was very impressed by the group and thought they would be a great fit for the symphony. Mary Koeninger, BVSO executive director, says the symphony works hard to bring the best of the best — like internationally acclaimed guest artists — to the Brazos Valley to create the best performances possible.
“Our audience will be dazzled by the performance and these three gifted tenors,” Bussiki says. “We will present a blend of country, classical, and Broadway selections. I think that this combination will explore this groups full potential and make for a very entertaining show.”
The Texas Tenors were discovered on “America’s Got Talent” eight years ago. Since then, they have traveled the world performing more than 1,000 concerts, simultaneously establishing and growing their dedicated fan base. The Texas Tenors have an Emmy Award-winning PBS special that aired across the country, not to mention their Billboard chart-topping albums, awards, and performances on shows like NBC’s “The Today Show.” Koeninger says she expects College Station to have a busy day on the roads leading up to the concert with the fast rate tickets have been selling.
There is something for everybody at a concert like this one, Koeninger says.
“[The season finale] concert is not just classical; you’re going to get country, you’re going to get broadway,” Koeninger explains. “It’s something that allows you to expand out into other genres as well. We did that last year with the Broadway production stars of ‘Wicked.’ This year, it’s The Texas Tenors.”
Bryan College Station can also look forward to the next season’s opening concert with the Canadian Brass. Because they are such a popular group, Koeninger says she predicts this concert to sell out quickly too. Until then, BVSO is excited for its future and growth.
Experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment with The Texas Tenors on Sunday, April 29, at 5pm. in Rudder Auditorium. Tickets are selling fast, so make sure to get yours before they are gone! Visit www.bvso.org for more information on tickets and other events.
“A live performance is … different every time. You’re getting a unique experience, and part of that experience is the reaction from the audience,” Koeninger says. “They feed to the musicians and the musicians feed to the audience, and together it becomes a moment in time that will never exist again.”
