Thomas Burritt, one of the finest marimbists, will perform in the Festival Concert Hall at 3pm on Saturday, Jan. 13. Burritt will mesmerize the audience on solo marimba. Pianist James Dick will join Burritt on stage to perform a Gillingham work for marimba and piano. Percussion students from the University of Texas Butler School of Music will accompany Burritt to perform Michael Burritt's Blue Flame Quintet for Marimba and Percussion Quartet.
"There are storied educators, and there are dynamic performers, and then there are those who are destined to be both,” says Jeff Mulhihill, product manager at Mapex/Majestic Percussion. Always in search of new music and new ways to share it with others, Thomas Burritt is today's percussionist."
Burritt is professor of percussion and director of percussion studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He has served as percussion faculty at Round Top Festival Institute each summer since 2004
