Hugh Stearns of Stearns Design Build, in cooperation with the BCS Local Flavor Independent Group, are launching Brazos Feed it Forward, a community grassroots movement designed to support local businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Brazos Feed It Forward supports the people battling against the COVID-19 pandemic, locally owned independent restaurants in B/CS, and the local economy. The goal is to support the frontline workers by providing them with nourishing meals prepared by our locally owned restaurants.
“This is our home, and these are our people,” says Kirsty Petty, owner of the Village Cafe in Bryan. “The workers on the front lines shouldn’t have to worry about food, and we want our local economy to come out of this ready to help us all find our new normal. This is a way you can help make that happen.”
Donations placed through the GoFundMe account go directly to place orders for meals for those who are risking so much to help protect the community. This includes front line workers such as staff from eligible businesses such as medical and assisted living facilities, delivery drivers, grocery store workers, and more. The goal is to show gratitude and help lessen the load for these heroes while supporting local restaurants and their staff. By placing multiple orders and delivering the food, contact is minimized while providing revenue to local restaurants who are on the frontline of this crisis and in need of our support.
Stearns says he believes strongly in this mission.
“As individuals, families, companies, communities, and a nation, we have overcome many serious threats,” Stearns says. “We prevail in the community. This is a time for creative thinking and brave hearts. This is our goal with Brazos Feed It Forward, to remember that we succeed together. This effort has been a confluence of many local business leaders.”
