Keeping businesses afloat in the midst of a global pandemic is far from easy, let alone establishing and opening a brand-new business. Destination Bryan was created during the height of COVID-19, in July 2020, and is currently doing its best to promote the area while prioritizing the health and safety of individuals. This marketing organization aims to tell Bryan’s story by promoting different events, businesses, and restaurants in order to increase economic growth in the community, thus improving the overall quality of life.
The newly settled organization was previously part of Experience BCS, the tourism organization for both Bryan and College Station, which dissolved over the past year. The two cities decided to start their own, individual tourism efforts, resulting in Destination Bryan and Visit CSTX. Abigail Noel, public relations and communications manager for Destination Bryan, says, “we are here to tell the world what Bryan is all about.”
Throughout the year, Destination Bryan facilitates and holds different events, including First Friday, The Brazos Valley Farmers’ Market, holiday happenings, and more. Most of the regularly held Historic Downtown Bryan events have been scaled-down due to COVID-19, but Destination Bryan has done its best to keep the environment safe, remaining in close communication with the health department, the mayor, and the community as a whole. Noel says, “the beauty of having events in Downtown Bryan is that most of them take place on the streets and on the sidewalks, so it is completely outdoors.”
As Destination Bryan moves forward, it will continue to build its relationships with different organizations in the community. “There are a significant amount of other incredible organizations that put on events all over Bryan and the community as a whole. We have already been talking with a handful of them about how we can help enhance events that they currently do,” says Noel. Destination Bryan also aims to make other events bigger and better by spreading its message throughout the community, explains Noel.
Currently appealing to locals and surrounding areas, Destination Bryan is working to expand its tourism efforts as traveling becomes a safer option. The organization wants to expand its audience, bringing in tourists from other regions, eventually reaching crowds from different states across the country.
