Registration is now open for the Bryan Citizen Fire Academy, a seven-week program designed to open the lines of communication between the Bryan Fire Department and the community. Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of how the department operates and the types of services it offers.
Topics covered include fire and EMS operations, extrication, first aid, rescue, hazardous materials, emergency management, and investigations. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a live burn day at TEEX and do a ride-along in a fire engine.
The Citizen Fire Academy meets weekly on Thursdays, Sept. 12 through Oct. 24, from 6 to 9pm. Meals are provided. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate, and registration is free.
The registration deadline is 5pm, Aug. 30, but space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
