On Thursday, June 20, five local charities came together to accept a $5,000 contribution presented by Brazos Valley Builders Care, the community service committee of the Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association (GBVBA).
Brazos Valley Builders Care was established in 2022 with the objective of giving back to the community through GBVBA fundraising efforts. The committee is chaired by Cari Bullington and co-chaired by Dwight Groves, with 10 volunteer members: Amy Supak, Brandi Trujillo, Brandy Sanchez, Carl Orozco, Donnie Pockrus, Lacey Hogan, Lissa Meza, Nathanael Cook, Paige Naumann and Melanie Becka.
“The Parade of Homes™ committee honored Brazos Valley Builders care with ticket sale money, and we want to give that back to [these organizations],” Cari says. “Hopefully, the parade homes will just keep growing as our city grows, so next year it can be even more than it was this year and we can continue to give back. We're just very touched and appreciative to be a part of this.”

“These donations go very far,” says Tanner Williams, senior development manager of the Ronald McDonald House Brazos Valley chapter. “We serve pediatric patients 21 and under. Right now, we’ve got a family in College Station with a NICU baby, and in Bryan, we have a 17-year-old gunshot victim, so those dollars go to keep those families close to the care that children need while they're in the hospital.”
With plans for growth, the committee is also working towards solidifying its role in the community as a legally recognized nonprofit organization, says Rose Selman, executive officer of GBVBA.
“Brazos Valley Builders Care is currently working on their 501(c)(3) so we can be a foundation,” Rose says. “That should be done before the end of this year, so we're very excited about that.”
