The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley’s second annual Brazos Valley Gives is officially set for Tuesday, Oct. 27. Nonprofits are excited to be a part of the community-wide day of giving, especially at a time of great need and readiness to bring together our community of citizens.
Brazos Valley Gives is 18 hours of online giving that brings the region together on one day as one community to raise critical funding and awareness for nonprofit organizations throughout the Brazos Valley. Powered by the Community Foundation, Brazos Valley Gives provides citizens and businesses an easy platform to support the mission and “good works” of local nonprofit organizations that serve the Brazos Valley. This second year will focus on Bryan College Station nonprofits and begin involvement with the entire seven-county region. All nonprofits throughout the Brazos Valley are invited to participate. Brazos Valley Gives will empower individual donors and business leaders to come together to support causes close to their hearts — and, on this day, everyone can be a philanthropist.
This day of giving where you live is being powered by the Community Foundation, and all donations will pass-thru directly to the donor’s charity(ies) of choice. The goal for Brazos Valley Gives is $375,000. On the inaugural day of giving in 2019, more than 100 nonprofits participated with 100 percent of the nonprofits receiving a financial benefit from the $363,686 that was raised. Also, each participating nonprofit was eligible for $25,250 in prizes that were awarded during a post-celebration event.
Of the 1,155 individuals who donated, many made donations to multiple organizations. Even so, 879 donations were first-time donations made by donors to support a local nonprofit that they had not supported before!
Calling all Brazos Valley nonprofits interested in learning more about this community-wide day of giving! The Community Foundation will host a ZOOM forum for new nonprofits on Thursday, July 9 from 3 to 4pm. From 4 to 5pm, the ZOOM webinar will discuss last year’s success, learn about plans for this year, and share best practices from 2019. Due to COVID-19 health advisory concerns, this meeting will be held VIRTUALLY as a ZOOM webinar. Preregistration is required; interested participants should email brazosvalleygives@gmail.com to confirm interest in the ZOOM webinar. If the participant is a local citizen or business interested in helping with Brazos Valley Gives, they are advised to call Patricia Gerling at (979) 589-4305.
We are stronger together, so let’s all join in as we strengthen nonprofits, empower donors and build community throughout beloved Brazos Valley.
