The Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley board of directors has a new chief executive officer, Rhonda Watson. Ms. Watson comes with extensive non-profit experience having worked in Seattle for United Negro College Fund, Social Justice Fund Northwest, and most recently at Hospice Brazos Valley as the director of marketing. Rhonda's expertise and leadership in strategy, organizational and team development, volunteer recruitment, and marketing and communications will be invaluable to the forward movement of club actives. The Boys & Girls Club will be starting a new chapter in service with the opening of the Newman-Adam center located at 1910 Beck St. in Bryan.
“Our history, mission, and purpose is to serve youth — especially youth that are not frequently exposed to positive experiences or supportive environments to help them reach their full potential," says Watson. “Arriving at this moment feels destined. My career is shaped by years of service in the nonprofit sector with social justice issues at the core of my work."
"I have the experience of parenting two sons," Watson continues. "I am the product of an isolated and marginalized childhood, and I bring the impact of those experiences to work each day. I enter that learning committed to creating a culture of excellence. I'm eager to improve our program outcomes, engage more teens in academic and real-world success, increase the athletic programs, and grow and deepen our arts program.”
