Hospice Brazos Valley and Atlas Belle Studio have partnered together to create the Brazos Valley Hero Mask Project. The purpose of this endeavor is to encourage wearing a mask in public to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community while also helping to provide masks to area seniors. Each cloth mask will have a “Wearing is Caring.” With each $16 purchase of a Brazos Valley Hero Mask, a local senior will be provided with a cloth mask at no cost to them. Hospice Brazos Valley will distribute masks to area seniors ages 55 and older.
Each Brazos Valley Hero Mask will be handmade by locally owned and operated Atlas Belle Studio. The cloth masks are fitted with a filter pocket and wire nose bridge option for a more secure fit or to keep glasses from fogging up while the mask is in use. The masks are secured with a tie back to prevent ear irritation and provide the wearer with a custom fit. In addition, each mask is machine washable, made of 100 percent cotton, and made in a pet-free/smoke-free home. The mask will feature the Hospice Brazos Valley logo along with the "Wearing is Caring" logo to spread the message that wearing a mask is caring for your community. Purchased masks can be shipped or picked up locally at Atlas Belle Studio.
“As our community begins to slowly reopen, local and CDC guidelines advise wearing a cloth mask in public to slow the spread of COVID-19,” says Craig Borchardt, president and CEO of Hospice Brazos Valley. “As our team is on the frontlines of caring for those most at risk, we see first hand the need for distributing cloth masks to the senior community. Hospice Brazos Valley wanted to be a part of keeping our community safe, encourage the use of cloth masks using the ‘Wearing is Caring’ logo, and help to protect our local seniors who remain the most vulnerable. As the only nonprofit hospice serving the area, community support allows us the opportunity to provide award-winning hospice care to those who are economically disadvantaged or uninsured. Therefore, we see the need in the area to distribute cloth masks to seniors who may be unable to purchase one of their own.”

About Atlas Belle Studio Locally owned and operated by Brittany Lammerts. In 2016 Brittany left the corporate world that kept her away from her family for 50 hours a week and dove head first into full-time entrepreneurship. Atlas Belle Studio was born out of her desire to be more present for her children and her love of creation. She's always been a maker of things and found her niche making unique and custom doormats. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a need for cloth masks, she dusted off her sewing machine and sprung into action. Brittany began sewing cloth masks for friends, family, and has also given away hundreds to healthcare providers and medical offices in the community. When she was approached by Hospice Brazos Valley to create masks for the Brazos Valley Hero Mask Project it took only a moment for her to agree and dive head first into this community partnership.
