With a focus on raising money for local culinary arts, the Taste of Aggieland is a great way to sample a diverse palette of local restaurants, while also supporting a great cause.
The Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Brazos Valley Restaurant Association, hosts the 25th annual Taste of Aggieland event on Feb. 18 from 5 to 8:15pm at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
Those who attend can sample a variety of food from local restaurants, including Campfire at the Stella Hotel, Rudy’s BBQ, and Blake’s Steaks.
The main focus of the event is to showcase area restaurants while raising money for the culinary arts. The event also features a culinary competition between five area schools: Rudder High School, Bryan High School, College Station High School, A&M Consolidated High School, and Franklin High School.
Helping fund local culinary arts programs is the best part of the event, says Clayton Rhoades, owner of Chicken Express, B/CS Chamber of Commerce member, and Brazos Valley Restaurant Association member.
“We look at the youth as the future of the world and the future of our businesses,” says Rhoades. “If we can help mold them and teach them early that they can have a thriving career in the food industry, then it’s good for all of us.”
General admission tickets are $30, and can be purchased in groups at a discounted rate. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance at the Chamber of Commerce website. For more information, visit www.bcschamber.org.
