The traffic signal at Villa Maria Road and Midtown Park Boulevard will change from a flashing yellow to a full traffic signal beginning the morning of Friday, Dec. 10.
The signal will remain in its current flashing yellow status along Villa Maria Road until that time and will then be transitioned to a regular red-yellow-green functioning signal. This means drivers should watch for stopped traffic at the signal and will be expected to follow the new signal’s traffic patterns once it is activated.
This process is happening in conjunction with the opening of Midtown Park Boulevard, which will provide access to BigShots Golf Aggieland, located inside Travis Bryan Midtown Park. Although the road will be open, work will still be ongoing in the park near the roadways and along sidewalks and shared use paths, so motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are asked to pay special attention to their surroundings when visiting the opened section of the park. Fences will be relocated this week to show which parts of the park will remain closed while heavy construction continues.
Midtown Park Boulevard is the first section of the park to open to the public as an extensive renovation is underway. Once complete, the park will feature a 2-mile walking trail, greenspace, lake, BigShots Aggieland, and multi-court indoor sports and event center called Legends Events Center.
