Join us and enjoy amazing, unusual art show by Professor of Northwestern State University. This show is full of joke and drawing illustrations "Words of DAY". Art Sow continue until September 2, 2024. About Artist: Matt DeFord is an artist that lives and works in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He joined the art faculty at Northwestern State University in 2005. Matt received his M.F.A. in Sculpture at Kansas State University in December 2004, and a B.F.A. in Sculpture at Brigham Young University in August 2001. He specializes in mixed-media work, both virtual and literal. Lately, he has been enamored with illustration as he was in his childhood. Matt’s work has been exhibited from New Jersey to New Mexico, from Cuba to Canada. Matt DeFord Artist Statement A logophile (lover of words) from birth, Matt DeFord began finding a word of the day in high school. While in a thrift store in 2012, he found a beautiful 1950 edition of Webster's Unabridged Dictionary five inches thick. Matt paid the $5 and began posting a word of the day faithfully. In 2018, he began illustrating a silly little comic to go with each word. Though the images are prompted by unusual words, the meaning comes through as relevant themes in our day-to-day existance. I hope you will enjoy these colorful observations.
