There is something magical about traveling the rolling hills and valleys of Texas wine country in the fall. Harvest lingers in the air, and the sense of shifting seasons is as beautifully apparent as the layers of flavor in a well-aged glass of wine.
Change is everywhere you look, leaves begin to float to the ground, and once verdant vines start to show off reds and golds as they say farewell to the green of summer.
The autumn season is the perfect time to head for the rolling hills and valleys of Southeast Texas. The Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail offers spectacular views and award-winning wines not far from the heart of Houston. Located between I-45 and U.S. Highway 290, visitors will find eight unique wineries spread out within a day trip distance in their own backyard. This fall, take advantage of the thriving wine industry in Texas, often overlooked.
Throughout the year, member wineries participate in five very different wine trail events that celebrate the seasons and holidays each year.
The Texas Department of Agriculture has designated October as Texas Wine Month as we savor the cooler weather and wine enthusiasts linger over a hearty red. The first two weekends in October, member wineries along the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail will celebrate with two specialty wines paired with a culinary sausage dish infused with the flavors of fall.
Ticket holders on this trail will receive a Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail glass upon arrival to their first winery. Participants will also receive a specially selected Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail gift at their sixth stop, while supplies last.
Guests can start at the winery of their choice. Ticket holders have four days over two weekends to visit all the member wineries.
The official hours for this event are noon to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday for each trail weekend, regardless of the wineries’ individual tasting room hours.
