Amanda Fox and Jared Hathorn shared several mutual friends. They decided to meet up on a blind date over Memorial Day weekend of 2015. It was an instant connection, and two short years later they tied the knot.
They had been dating for a year and a half when Jared surprised Amanda with the perfect proposal at Wild Seed Farms in Fredericksburg on New Year’s Eve 2016.
“He had it all planned and set up,” Amanda says. “We actually have some friends who live in Fredericksburg, and they were a big part of it. … We were doing wine tastings and he kept trying to get me to go out by the fireplace. I never caught on until I turned around and saw him on his knee.”
The couple started planning the wedding the next day while driving home when they were able to look at their future venue, Rock Lake Ranch. Both Amanda and Jared fell in love with the venue immediately, as did Jared’s two young sons, Jaxon and Kase. Now that they had a venue, Amanda was able to continue the wedding planning, with some help from her wedding coordinator Let Us.
“I knew what I wanted,” Amanda says. “I knew I wanted it to be simple, but elegant and vintage. … I had it all in my head and it’s hard to make it happen, but I knew I was going to need a little help, and that’s when I got in touch with Let Us. … They were amazing. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
The simple wedding was a smaller affair with close friends and family on May 13. It was important for Amanda and Jared to include Jaxon and Kase, ages 9 and 4, to be a part of the wedding, as well. Jaxon was a junior groomsman, and Case was the ring bearer, walking a sign down the aisle that said, “Get ready Daddy, here she comes.”
“The whole day was just so much fun being with everybody and seeing it all come together,” says Amanda. “It all went so smoothly, and everything was just so perfect.”
The most important part, however, wasn’t the ceremony or the reception, but bringing together four people to start a new life and family.
“It was God’s timing,” says Amanda. “You wait and find your true best friend. And then I got two little boys out of it too that I absolutely adore. That in all made it such a perfect day, just seeing a family come together like that.”
