Mental wellness impacts everyone. Now more than ever, our communities need education and support about mental health treatment and recovery. The National Alliance on Mental Illness Brazos Valley has launched their signature Connection and Family Support Groups online.
NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a confidential support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition, led by trained peer facilitators. The group offers a safe environment for participants to express themselves with people who understand the challenges they face. The group model creates upbeat and constructive meetings and promotes productive discussion. Participants gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others. NAMI-BV hosts online Connection Recovery Support Group every Thursday evening from 6:30-8pm.
NAMI Family Support Group is a confidential support group for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Participants learn they are no longer alone and gain a renewed sense of hope by joining a caring group of people who help one another through their learned wisdom. Meetings are led by trained facilitators who have a loved one living with a mental health condition. NAMI-BV hosts online Family Support Group every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8pm.
At this time, Online Support Groups are only open to those residing in the NAMI-BV service area: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties. Those who reside outside of the service area can refer to www.211.org for local options. There is a 15 person limit for NAMI-BV online groups, with subsequent registrations put on a waitlist. Reserve a spot by registering at www.namibv.org or emailing volunteersnamibv@gmail.com with any questions.
