The Downtown Bryan Association is now accepting team applications for MonuMetal, an award-winning sculpture competition to benefit the Queen Theatre in Downtown Bryan.
Bryan Iron & Metal has partnered with the DBA by donating 5,000 pounds of scrap metal to be transformed into sculptures which will be displayed at the Downtown Street & Art Fair on April 18 and auctioned to benefit the restoration of the historic Queen Theatre.
Teams may be composed of any number of people. Four members from each team will be allowed to gather up to 200 lbs. of scrap metal at Bryan Iron & Metal during a two-hour time period on Saturday, March 21.
Teams will have three weeks to build the sculptures which will represent one or more of the classic elements of earth, water, air and fire. Finished sculptures must not exceed 125 lbs. in weight, and should be suitable for garden or indoor display.
Applications are available on the DBA website, www.downtownbryan.com or may be picked up at the DBA office in the Federal Building at 216 W. 26th St. in Downtown Bryan. Team applications are due no later than Monday, March 9, 2015.
MonuMetal received the Best Promotional Event award from the Texas Downtown Association at its annual conference in 2014.
