The A&M Garden Club won several Texas Awards: first in Youth Poetry, Historic Preservation/Decoration, and Environmental Conservation-Pollinators.
The Historic Preservation/Decoration was a Wreath Workshop with Texas A&M University Benz School of Floral Design Bill McKinley and instructors Idalia Aguilar, Johanna Roman, Suzanne Milstead, and Greta Merritt, coordinated by Jane Cohen. More than 50 participants from across Texas learned about historical wreaths and mechanics to create their own work of art in a historic, contemporary, or traditional wreath. A tour of the Gardens at Texas A&M was coordinated by Heather White.
The Environmental Conservation-Pollinators project included a Migration Celebration adding native plants at Richard Carter Park and Bee Creek Park, numerous butterfly projects including Lick Creek Park, the Gardens at Texas A&M, Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, Heritage Park, and several workshops.
