For several years, The Arts Council has provided scholarships to local high school seniors who wish to pursue a degree in the arts. Since 2010 The Arts Council has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarship funds. For 2018, The Arts Council awarded $20,000 in scholarship funding to six young artists in order to achieve their dream of a college education and ultimately a career in the arts. With a lead gift donated by the late John Simek, The Arts Council also awarded the Netta Jackson Simek Emerging Artist Scholarship to an innovative female artist. Earlier this month, The Arts Council Board of Directors recognized six Brazos Valley scholarship recipients for their achievements. The 2018 Arts Council scholarship roster includes:

Funding for The Arts Council’s College Arts Scholarship program is made possible by the generosity of local supporters, many of whom give to the program during the annual Celebrate the Arts event each September. Lead program donors for the 2018 scholarships include Coleen and Jay Bradfield, Pam and Bob Smits, Denise Bermudez, and the Willard and Anne Levin Foundation.
