The Arts Council of Brazos Valley (ACBV) will continue its summer art class program through the beginning of August; this includes Kids Summer Art Camps and Saturday Adult Art Classes.
Kids Summer Art Camps
Week 2: through Fri. June 18, 2021 Jessica Horvath’s Art Adventure 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7-11. Each day students will learn about a new artist and create art inspired by them.
Jessica Steels’ Music Jamboree 12:30 to 4 p.m for ages 5-7. During this class, kids will make their own instruments and move and groove to the beat.

Week 3: Mon. June 21 to Fri. June 25, 2021
Jessica Horvath: Paint Party 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7-11 Paint every day, all day, trying different kinds of paints and techniques. Attendees will even get to double dip your paint!
Brandi Walden: Incredible Art 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 6-11From drawings, paintings, and sculptures, come and make something new every day.
Week 4: Mon. June 28 to Thurs. July 1st, 2021
Jessica Horvath: Hands-on Art 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7-11 Experience art built with your hands! You will create sculpture, collage, quilling, weaving, and printmaking. What will you build?
Brandi Walden: Paint Along & Paper Making 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 6-11 Come paint along during this fun workshop, and create your own paper using recycled paper.
Week 5: Mon. July 5 to Fri. July 9, 2021
Jessica Steels: Karaoke Party 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7-10 Turn up the mic and dance! We'll be singing popular music together while working on our best dance moves. Every class ends with a group performance.
Brandi Walden: All About Drawing 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 6-11 Come and learn to draw people, animals, and the world around us. We’ll learn new techniques and try different mediums all while having fun.
Week 6: Mon. July 12 to Fri. July 16, 2021
Rose Santos: Art Around the World 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 6-11 We will explore art around the world focusing on famous artists, traditions, and cultures each day of camp to create landscape paintings, sugar skulls, collages, and more!
Brandi Walden: Printmaking & Monster Pottery 12:30 to 4 p.m. for ages 6-11 Make a whistle that you can actually play or sound monster for your phone using clay, then learn about the different ways to make prints.

Saturday Adult Art Classes:
Sat. June 19, 2021 Saturday Adult Art Class 1 to 4 p.m. Beginners Watercolor Lesson, Part II with Chris Wilson. The two-part, three-hour class introduces watercolor as a medium and includes a demonstration and stained-glass window painting over the course of both sessions. No drawing skills or previous experience required. $90.
Sat. June 26, 2021 Introduction to Life Drawing with Trevor Coopersmith 1 to 4 p.m. Basic fundamentals to understanding how to draw the human body. Gesture, structure, and anatomy of the figure, learning to draw using movement and fluidity. Live model provided. (Figure Drawing Workshop). $40
Sat. July 10, 2021
Built by Hand: Coil Building Cups with Jacob Jimerson 1 to 4 p.m. In this workshop, you will create your own one-of-a-kind cup using the simple method of coil building. Additionally, you will learn the basics of functional pottery like the anatomy of pots and the method of pulling a handle. Cups will be picked up several weeks after class due to the process of firing and glaze. $50
Sat. July 17, 2021 Natural Science Illustration with Arienne Boley 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Natural science illustration combines the beauty of nature with the precision of scientific observation. Working in a traditional format, the class will create a poster from their study of unique natural objects through observation. $40
Sat. July 24, 2021 Paper Quilling with Apinya Srikhwanthong 1 to 4 p.m. This art class will be taught by former Navasota Artist in Residence, Apinya Srikhwanthong. We will learn basic shapes of quilling and how to roll, shape, and glue them together. Students will experiment with strips of paper and decorative designs. $35
Sat. July 31, 2021 Color me a Rainbow; Pastel Portraits with Jami Bevans 1 to 4 p.m. Jami Bevans will show you how to use all the colors in the rainbow as an underpainting of pastels to create more realistic skin tones. Practice first on gray bogus paper to get the idea, and then transfer knowledge to creating your own portrait. You are encouraged to bring a printed photo of yourself, friend, or family member. $40
Sat. August 7, 2021 Bookbinding with Lisa Urban 1 to 4 p.m. In this class, students will design their own covers and then learn two basic bookbinding techniques: Japanese Stab binding and Coptic binding. Students will walk away with a small journal and a large sketchbook. $45
