How Can I Change That?, a picture book biography about early businesswoman Dorothy Dignam, released on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Author Sara Alpern Tarlow, Ph.D., taught US history at Texas A&M University for 40 years, where she also helped establish the Women’s Studies program. She has published a biography and several articles and biographical pieces and is excited to release her newest book.
The book is an inspiration for young girls everywhere. Editor Dawn Husted says, “This is a remarkable story that encourages girls to pursue their dreams and make a difference.”
Dignam wrote her first book, at the age of 11, in 1907, launching her lifelong passion for writing and advertising. Unfortunately, the advertising industry was mostly filled with men. The book discusses how Dignam worked to change that notion.
The book has received five stars on Amazon. One review says, “The book has a positive and uplifting message – use your smarts and tenacity to make change happen!”
“With much anticipation, I’m spreading the word with my friends and family about my new book!” says Tarlow. “My stepdaughter, Lysie Tarlow Sarantos, is the illustrator, and I couldn’t be happier about our shared family venture.”
