Friends of Chamber Music will present Axiom Brass for its first indoor, live, in-person concert and forum of the season this weekend. The Axiom Brass quintet will perform Love, Mystery, and Despair on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at A&M United Methodist Church. The concert and parking are free, with live-streaming and extended video viewing through Oct. 22 with registration. Members of the ensemble include Dorival Puccini, Jr., trumpet; Christopher Scanlon, trumpet; Matthew Bronstein, horn; Corey Sansolo, trombone; and Kevin Harrison, tuba, the Axiom Brass has been praised for their talent and ability to play music not traditionally meant for brass.
“Starting with their most astounding playing of the evening … they negotiated some difficult passages originally written for strings that don’t come easily for brass. Trombone and even tuba popped out pristine 16th notes with perfect articulation and spacing. Horn and trombone made it sound like they trill all the time. Singing on the high lines like violins were the two trumpets. These Axiom guys were the bomb!" says Gayle Williams of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
At the live, in-person concert, guests will have a chance to write down questions during the first part of the performance. FCM volunteers will collect questions before intermission, and musicians will answer them at the Forums with Artists immediately following the concert.
Public & Main restaurant is the FCM Dining Sponsor and exclusively provides meals for the musicians who perform in the 2021-2022 concert series. On the days of the concerts, the restaurant will offer lower dining prices for patrons with the FCM QR code.
