The Derby Day Gala Fundraiser will be May 5 at the Hilton Bluebonnet Ballroom.
On May 5 beginning at 4pm, the Brazos Valley Symphony will host Derby Day, an annual gala fundraiser, at the Hilton Bluebonnet Ballroom.
The Derby Day fundraiser provides funding for the Brazos Valley Symphony Society’s following season.
The Kentucky Derby will be broadcast live while attendees enjoy live and silent auctions, a gourmet seated dinner and dancing. Sip on a Mint Julep and listen to big band music provided by the Brazos Valley Symphony Dance Band with Max Class & The Class Act, a nationally acclaimed show band.
Marcelo Bussiki, music director for the Brazos Valley Symphony Dance Band, programmed Max Class & The Class Act for their lively reputation. Max Class is a 10-member dance and show band who performs favorites from the big band era to contemporary pop.
The live auction items include an opportunity to coach alongside Gary Blair, Texas A&M University women’s basketball coach, and a chance to conduct the symphony. The silent auction includes items donated from local businesses and individuals such as original artwork and musical programs.
“We invite everyone in the community to join us for this stellar evening,” John Nichols, 2012 Derby Day Chair says. “Derby Day is important as a way to help sustain the orchestra’s continued high level of performance and professionalism.”
Tickets are $125 for singles and $250 for couples. Visit https://bvso.org/events to purchase tickets or call 979-696-6100. Reservations close Tuesday, May 1.
