Local Americana artist Joey McGee Band was chosen for this year’s Shiner Rising Star Competition. At stake for the 24 bands selected for the competition is a record deal with Shiner Records, a guaranteed spot at KHYI’s 20th annual Texas Music Revolution festival next spring, and a $2,500 credit with Cheetah Case Company.
The competition is sponsored by Shiner Beer and KHYI 95.3 The Range radio station in Dallas. The 13-week competition will be held at various venues around the DFW Metroplex.
Round 1 for Joey McGee Band will be held at LSA Burger in Denton, on September 3 from 8:00 to 10:00pm. Fans are encouraged to attend. Hashtags #SRS2015 and #joeymcgeemusic will be used.
The bands will be judged on songwriting (original songs), singing ability, musicianship, stage presence, marketability, crowd response, cover song performance and fit with the genre of KHYI Radio.
