After their stunning season opener, The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra™ continues the 37th season with the greatly anticipated return of Cliburn Finalist, Fei-Fei. The 2018-2019 subscription series includes live symphonic performances featuring both traditional and modern composers, exclusive guest artists, and the world-class BVSO™ musicians. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki and the professional orchestra bring a collection of exciting programs and the next concert in the “New Heights” season will hail the return of pianist Fei-Fei, this time performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
BVSO™ is proud to once again partner with CHI St. Joseph Health as the official sponsor for the 2018-2019 Season. Cliburn finalist and audience sweetheart, Fei-Fei, has been invited again to the BVSO™ performance hall with another presentation of pure virtuosity with Rachmaninoff’s passionate Piano Concerto No. 2. In her last appearance with the BVSO™ in October 2015, she played Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 to standing ovations. Maestro Marcelo Bussiki and the orchestra will add to the evening with Beethoven’s captivating Symphony No. 7. The famous Allegretto, the second movement, is very popular and often performed as a stand-alone work. Beethoven’s Seventh has been described as, “true ambition, beauty, breathlessness, and energy in musical form.” The composer himself even called it "one of the happiest products of my poor talents." This classical performance is set for Sunday, Nov. 4, at 5pm in Rudder Theatre on the Texas A&M University campus.
“It’s a delight working with Fei-Fei. She brings a high level of musicianship and depth at the same time, as well as connection with everybody in the performance,” says Bussiki. “She is very good when performing with an ensemble .... it’s not about the piano, it’s about the overall musical result with her ... so, in a performance with Fei-Fei, everyone becomes ‘one,’ the performers and the audience are captivated.”
