September 16-18 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day, the Camino Real and Lone Star Peruvian Horse Clubs are presenting their annual combined Championship Peruvian Horse show at the Brazos County Expo Center. Peruvian horses are renowned for their “no bounce” ride, especially comfortable for those riders with back or leg problems that may no longer be able to enjoy riding a trotting horse. The show includes classes for breeding and pleasure horses, professional, amateur and junior riders all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Texas Ladies Aside Peruvian Horse Sidesaddle Drill Team will perform mid-afternoon on Saturday. The Texas Ladies Aside is the Official Equestrian Drill Team of Texas and has won multiple USEDA National Drill Team Championships in the Gaited Horse Division. Late Saturday afternoon classes include Egg and Spoon, Musical Freestyle Performance and the Champagne/Perrier Class where riders carry a full champagne glass of soda while performing maneuvers in the arena. There is also a special Challenged Rider Class for juniors or adults with mental or physical disabilities. For more information contact: http://www.caminorealperuvian.com. Admission to the event is free.
