More than 30 Texas artists and craftsmen will exhibit paintings, jewelry, sculptures and more at the Downtown Bryan Street and Art Fair on Saturday, April 14, from 10am to 6pm on W. 26th Street between Main St and Parker Ave. The Art Fair, now in its 9th year in Downtown Bryan, is also a featured event of the Texas A&M's Family Weekend.
A highlight of the day will be Steamroller Printmaking, sponsored by Superior Window Company, an event in which teams of artists will create four foot square prints in linoleum, with the design transferred to paper by driving the roller over the inked linoleum. Redtail Rental has donated the use of the roller for the fair in support of the arts in Downtown Bryan.
Live music will provide entertainment for fair attendees throughout the day. A hands-on art activity area for children of all ages will be located adjacent to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Children will be able to make their own pieces of art to take home as a souvenir from the day. Other activities include a bounce house, henna tattoos, face painting, and a giant paint-by-numbers of the Queen Theatre. Attendees can also grab a bite to eat at one of the many Downtown Bryan restaurants or the participating food trucks at the Art Fair, including, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Chilly Willy's Hawaiian Ice, Sweet Pops Kettle Corn, and Jimmy Bobby's Sausage Company.
Admission is free and participants are encouraged to spend the day and experience all Downtown Bryan has to offer. The College Station Noon Lions Club Jazz Festival will coincide with the Art Fair this year. Held at the Palace Theater on Friday evening from 6 to 10pm and Saturday beginning at 12pm, the Jazz Fest will feature 16 local and regional jazz bands.
As a recognized Texas Cultural District, Downtown Bryan actively fosters the arts and culture. This fair continues to build on that by inviting local and regional artists to support the rebirth that is occurring downtown.
